Dry skin tips – Your skin is begging for attention

You have had bariatric slimming surgery and you look great because you feel healthier, can lead a more active lifestyle and wear more fashionable clothes.
But you notice that your skin looks so dry! If you’ve had a problem with acne or oily skin before, you’re delighted that your skin has cleared up and is less oily.
But for those who started with normal to dry skin, to begin with, this new extra-dry skin is a bit of a problem, even perhaps an inconvenience due to itching and scaling.

You have had bariatric slimming surgery and you look great because you feel healthier, can lead a more active lifestyle, and wear more fashionable clothes.

Developing dry skin after surgery can become a problem for many.
Getting too little fluid is probably the biggest culprit, but not the only one responsible.
Acne and oily skin are often caused by certain foods; and since a bariatric patient has cut away such foods that are greasy, fried, and oily, the acne or oily skin disappears. This is fortunate news for someone who has fought acne or oily skin for years.
But for those who fall into the category of normal to dry skin before surgery, the increased dryness can be irritating.

The skin is the largest organ of our body. It is a breathable and functional covering of our body that keeps our skeleton, muscles, and vital organs in one neat and safe package.
Our skin sweat absorbs, feels sensations, and also protects everything inside.
We have to make sure that it continues to function optimally for us.

Hand and body lotions are the easiest remedies that offer a wide range of simple basics for vitamin-enriched formulas. It is wise to experiment with small samples of these products to find out what best alleviates your skin problems.
Buy the smallest possible amount first, so in case your skin doesn’t like a product, you won’t spend that much money on something you won’t use anymore. And when you find the product that suits you best, remember where you bought it so you can buy more – because you’ll buy more if you use your favorite hand or body lotion every day.
Hand lotion is used several times a day, probably each time after you’ve washed your hands; so take some hand lotion with you in your handbag (men… take some in the car).
Washing hands dries out the skin because soap and tap water are hard. Your hands may be clean, but they become so dry that you barely pick up one sheet of paper!

In addition to daily applications of hand and body lotion, I strongly recommend using bath salts at least twice a week. A good dip in bath salts gives your dry skin the extra treatment it needs.
Bath salts soften the bathwater for the skin while the skin absorbs the softness of the salts … just as clothing absorbs fabric softener.
If you swim a lot in chlorinated pools, your skin will thank you after good bath salt.
Bath salts provide a long-lasting effect and give the skin a refreshed feeling.
Bath salts come in loose crystals or in solid forms that dissolve in warm water. I prefer the crystals because they allow you to regulate the amount you want to use per bath, whether it’s a lot or a little.
Ordinary Epsom salts are the barebones if that’s all you want, or you can buy the bath salts that are colored and scented to enhance your soaking pleasure and ambiance.

Don’t forget the lips! They also suffer from dehydration after surgery! Use a good moisturizing product.
For problem lips that need immediate help, try a medicinal lip balm with special healing drugs that will have an immediate effect to stop cracking and burning.
Lip balm should be worn all year round as cold, heat, wind and sun are not friendly to unprotected lips.

When buying sunscreens for outdoor activities, select a product that not only provides efficient sun protection for you but also moisturizes your lips.

If you’ve never played with your skin or pampered your skin before surgery, you should start afterward.
You will find that you will experience more ‘touching’ encounters than ever before because people want to embrace you with congratulations while telling you how happy they are for you.
Make it a “softer” experience for everyone involved as you soak your skin with great skin products.

Skincare is something that should become part of your daily routine, just like getting enough moisture after surgery.
If you do this, your skin will feel healthier, look more radiant, and you’ll probably get rid of your appearance for a few years! Keep astonishing others – not only in your weight loss performance but also in your overall healthy appearance.
