Have you ever asked yourself if your cat loves you? Cats express their love for their owners in different ways. Although some of these ways are a little obvious, other signs of their affection have a hidden meaning behind them and you may have overlooked them without realizing it.
Here is a list of 9 signs that your cat loves you:
1. Your cat will bring you their “presents”.
Not for the fainting of the heart, when your cat brings you their death, it’s meant as a gift… even if it’s a gift you don’t want to touch with your bare hands. Cats are natural hunters, so when they bring you these gifts, they try to show you what they can “offer”. Think of it as a love voucher, even if the sight of a dead bird/rodent makes you squeak.
2. Your kitty will show you their belly
Like most animals, cats don’t show their stomachs to just anyone. If your cat rolls over on his back to give you a flash of that fluffy belly, it’s an indication that they’re feeling comfortable around you. Not only this, but they feel loved and protected by you, making them feel defenseless on their backs. Cats are proud animals, so if they do this for you, they don’t have to worry about keeping watch in your presence.
3. Your cat has something to help you.
Although you would never see this as a friendly gesture with a human being, receiving a headbutt (headbutt) from a cat is quite a big deal. When your cat shares this special privilege with you, they deposit facial pheromones on you. These serve to represent their feelings and their “possessions” to you as if they were leaving traces of their scent for you to claim.
4. Love bites… but hopefully not too hard!
If your cat nibbles at you playfully, this is one of their ways of showing you their affections. It’s much different from a bite that can cause physical damage and tickles more than anything else.
5. Hanging/being present wherever you are
Cats often get stuck around their owners when they love them, so if that hairy cat rubs your legs – or even accidentally trips when you walk – they know they only do it because they want to be close to you. Even though your cat may pretend to be distant when you’re around, he’s bluffing when he always seems to be around.
6. Kneading (and needing) their master
If your cat kneads you like pizza dough, this is their way of showing you the love they’ve developed as babies when taking care of their mothers. Usually, if your cat stays with you while she catches some Z’s, they’re known to bring themselves into a heavenly state as they knead away parts of your body.

7. Moving the tips of their tails
A cat’s tail is like a mood sensor, where every movement reflects their feelings. If your cat casually holds his tail up and reverses the tip when they’re around you, they’ll think you’re the “cat’s stomach”.
8. The power of the purr
Everybody knows a cat spins when it’s happy. If a kitten happens to purr noisily every time you give them some attention, this is a very good sign that they have developed special feelings for you.
9. Eye contact with a kitten kisses, if you’re lucky…
Cats only tend to make eye contact with those they know well and for whom they have developed confidence – so if you catch your cat giving the eye, don’t worry. When your cat closes eyes with you, pouring a slow wink as soon as the eyes are met, this is their version of a kiss. Be a sweetheart and give them a slow wink back.
